🥶WINTER🥶

I was really looked forward to Christmas and spending time with family and friend’s. But then Christmas Day was short and sweet and Boxing Day a friend of whom I had agreed to spend time with had the flu so I found myself alone at home.

New Years Eve, myself and two friends went out to watch our regular band “The Big Blue- Sussex Band “ with a set menu at a Curry House. It was ok, but I wouldn’t do it again, even though I left them a good review, I can see they worked hard to make everything successful for the evening. I am not used to eating so late. One of the friends insisted on a “doggy bag” then took half my meal home with her. Actually, as I am currently without a microwave, so I had to say it was acceptable!

New Years Day it was pouring with rain, so I didn’t go out. Just chilled and caught up with things I had been putting off for a while. Thankfully, I was able to work from home on the day that followed and then in the office for a couple of days the following week.

Glad to receive an electric blanket as a gift from my daughter for Christmas. Makes it easier to sleep. I have slept so much better since my move. Since COVID I had a bit of Tinnitus, it does come and go. I have very good hearing and unfortunately, can hear the hot water boiling in the cylinder when on Economy 7. So I try to get to bed early so I am asleep before this noise begins.

Then a friend gave me an electric radiator that blows hot air as well as the radiator element. This is much better and keeps the room warmer while I work. You almost need to go outside to come in again to appreciate the warmth!

I know some of my work colleagues don’t put their heating on but sit with their coats on and fingerless gloves.

I’m the only person that doesn’t have gas heating in this building that I live in, though coming in from the cold air, the room feels warm so I may benefit it a little from heat rising from their flats. Just first thing in the morning it’s harder than it would be normally to get up. Dark morning’s when I leave at 7am to go to work, then it’s dark on my return. Winter seems longer this year, thankfully we didn’t get that much snow, it’s mostly been raining and cold. Hardly any sunshine.

My car has been in the wars. Bashed the wing mirror, it cost me £100 to get repaired which was cheap as a friend sorted it out for me. Sadly, my car is looking quite rough now, with scratches on the paint work and the door handle covers have dropped off. I got my church house group to pray the car got through the MOT. Thank God it did. It is a cheap little run around that i bought when it was six years old, now it’s twelve years old and I need to keep going a few more years yet.

In the day, it’s a challenge to keep the electric bill down. Since having the Smart Meter installed at least I can see what uses the energy. I rarely use the oven. I manage to eat quite well using the Air Fryer, Slow Cooker and hob. I still have a pressure cooker, just about remember how to use it. The main point being how to let it off the heat and release naturally. The pressure drops quite fast, then It’s safe to open.

Basically, you have to cook differently when you know you don’t have a microwave to heat meals up.

I used to use a Microwave quite a bit and will get one in March, so that I can enjoy jacket potatoes again.

January was quite a quiet month for socialising, I try did get out to see Stuart Bligh sing solo and I made this video which we collaborated on via Instagram Follow Stuart Bligh on Instagram and it got over 1k views Then I have also shared it on My TikTok and my other platforms. Stuart told me he got a couple of bookings as a result. Well that was good to know, very encouraging! I’ve been supporting his band and his solo gigs for twelve years now. He always refers to me and my friends as “friends” gives us a hug when he sees us. We have been all over East Sussex to lots of country pubs, some in really remote places.

Stuart also hosts a “Blues Weekend” called “Beer, Rhythm & Blues” in Beer https://www.beerbluesfestival.co.uk

Last year the weather was bitter cold, the year before though it was lovely. As it’s in October, your guess is as good as mine to what the weather would be like!

I am planning to go somewhere warmer this year early Autumn but where I haven’t decided yet.

Be In Your Flame- Passion of Entrepreneurship

Flame of Passion

In the passion of entrepreneurship, dreams take flight,

A burning desire to create, innovate, and ignite.

With every idea, a spark of inspiration,

Fueling the fire of determination.

The flame of entrepreneurship burns bright,

Guiding us through challenges, day and night.

It fuels our ambition, our relentless drive,

To build something meaningful, to truly thrive.

But in this fiery journey, we must be aware,

That failure and setbacks may be part of the affair.

Yet, we rise from the ashes, stronger than before,

Learning from mistakes, opening new doors.

In the flame of entrepreneurship, we find our power,

To shape our own destiny, hour by hour.

We take risks, we embrace uncertainty,

For it is in the unknown that we find opportunity.

So let us embrace the passion that burns within,

Harnessing our creativity, letting it begin.

In the world of entrepreneurship, we dare to dream,

To make a difference, to create a lasting gleam.

With every step forward, we light the way,

Inspiring others to join us, to seize the day.

In the flame of entrepreneurship, we find our light,

A journey of passion, courage, and endless might. Together, we can strive for greatness and make a lasting impact. Let’s push ourselves to go beyond the ordinary and embrace the extraordinary. Let’s challenge the status quo and create a community that thrives on innovation and progress.

By actively participating in the story of change, we can shape a better future for ourselves and those around us. Let’s be the catalysts for positive transformation, inspiring others to join us on this journey.

No longer content with mediocrity, let’s set our sights on greatness. Let’s be the change we wish to see in the world and create a community that fosters growth, compassion, and empowerment. Together, we can make a difference and leave a legacy that will be remembered for generations to come.

Weird how things develop, one action in a particular direction…..

…can create a different set of events.  That’s how it all started, never my intention to spend a lot of time in this particular pub as rock music wasn’t high on my agenda, in the beginning I didn’t like it at all and I didn’t really like the people that went there either…

Not that I think I am better than them or anything like that, I just couldn’t relate to them…then one day I was convicted that I should make an effort to befriend a few.   Not that difficult, there was a small group that my friend knew and at the end of the evening they were most often the worst for wear, their consumption of alcohol would have taken it’s toll and I would help them get home in my car.  On those occasions I would only have one alcoholic drink myself.

We may disagree on this issue as a Christian, nowhere in the Bible does it say you can’t have a drink, just says don’t get drunk.  For your own protection really as it alters your mindset, you end up saying and doing things you other wise wouldn’t have done.

I can confess to being partial to a glass of red wine or two which is relaxing  so evidently the car these days gets left at home and I get a lift there and back and sometimes share a taxi home…

Over the past three years we have all met up a lot at the pub, we have all gone to Butlins a couple of times as well to the 70’s Weekends, we have had meals at my home…  These days I know most people there at the pub and I’m there every weekend.  I have a vast mixture of friends both young and old…

The small group of people that once I would not have had anytime for are now my friends and I have begun to understand why they are drinking so heavily, the ultimate weight of their lives issues.  Disappointments, heartbreaks generally everything that goes on in my life too and this is just their way of handling it.

I have gently probed them about their understanding of God, most of them are not believers, or once they did have a faith but there have been major issues in their life which have eroded it away…

The music has sort of grown on me, the bands; I am now keen to attend when they play at our pub.    I see that in fact it is a great passion for many people to be singing and one Christmas I went to a Christmas event and heard a local band, befriended them on Facebook and for a while followed the person  the person led me to know other women who share the passion for the music…

We became almost “rent a crowd” , where the band plays locally we will be there.  I noticed the person took advantage of his role as the leader and was exploiting it with who ever was willing to be taken advantage of, needless to say a few broken hearts have developed and our group has  gone from “rent a crowd” to just us two! My friend and I who have decided not to entertain any of this

At the very last moment the other week I went to the Congress Theatre to see one of the UK Tribute bands for Led Zepplin – I have never thought about listening to this band, never bought a record in my life, but despite acoustics being really poor, probably as the venue was half empty I could see the singers had a passion for the music, I couldn’t hear the words but I enjoyed the instrumental side of it.

I connected with them on Facebook, just the same as I do with anyone else….

Last Saturday at our pub we had a guest singer with a group that probably sing there once a month… I only discovered this when I went to look at the photo’s. This time I am not in any photos as I didn’t go near the front due to the of the heat of the evening being so humid outside the inside was about 35c…made the discovery that the singer was in fact with a very famous tribute band Letz Zepp, of course I have never heard of them and since have just carried out a little bit of research.   I am interested to know more about the spiritual side of it as having been told about the darkness that is involved with it while doing so I pray against the darkness  and believe for God’s protection
